TRS Custom Drums are stained, lacquered, drilled, and polished by hand, from start to finish. We use a variety of stains and lacquers to build the desired finish. The shells can get sprayed with up to 10 to 15 thin coats of clear lacquer. Shaders are used to bring out the extra characteristics of the wood grains, and help provide those beautiful fade and burst finishes.

Just as much care and craftsmanship go into the inside of the drum shell as the out. This is the sound chamber for the drums tone. The Internal ‘SRF’ or ‘Shell Resonance Factor’ contributes greatly to the sound, tone, and sustain of the shell. Warm and Fat, to Bright and Punchy…this is all accomplished by choosing a balance of our special this satin oils, sealers, and lacquers. Whichever you choose, the shells always breathe and sound great.

With all this traditional ‘old school’ care, your drums will resonate freely with a pure, warm, and round tone. TRS Custom Drum finishes include Gloss, Satin, Fade, and Burst finishes.

So, as you can see, nothing is carved in wood (no pun intended). Your drums done completely as you want them. We have started the process by choosing the features that work well together to achieve a most excellent drum sound.

At The Rhythm Section we offer total custom drum set design, repairs and refurbishing. We can repair, re-wrap, or re-lacquer your old drums. We can also find you those old vintage hard to find parts, or we can have them re-manufactured. Shells can be repaired or replaced. Bearing edges can be reshaped or re-cut if needed, and original parts and badges can be found…hopefully.

We can even have your old worn hardware custom powder coated in any colour for a new cool look!
