TRS Custom Drums offers the professional drummer a truly classic custom drum.  The ‘Studio Series’  shells are custom crafted drums utilizing industry proven all Maple shells.   Complete hands on manufacturing technique give you that truely classic Maple experience.   All ‘Studio Series’ drums are constructed using all  ’A’  Grade North American Maple Shells.

Toms are crafted using 6ply shells with no re-rings.

Floor Toms are crafted with 8 ply shells with no re-rings.

Bass Drums are crafted utilizing 10 ply shells with no re-rings.

Snare Drums are crafted utilizing 10 ply shells with no re-rings.

Our Custom Craft shells consist of 6/6, 8/8, or 10/10, hoop/shell configurations, building the sound and texture from warm and fat to big and full bodied snares and drums with tons of tone, crack and/or attack.  All these features combined with beautiful finishes, build an amazing sounding snare drums and toms that draws out all the focus and warmth and is ready to record.

Bearing edges and snare beds get extra attention.  These are designed to bring out the sensitivity and projection of each drum depending on the shell make up and construction.  

The edges are precision cut to a precise 35 ° angle with a rounded outside edge for maximum marriage between the head and shell, thus creating more tone and note value.    These are all then hand sanded, checked on glass, sealed, finished, and waxed.  The ’round over’ actual specs of the drum head marriage and shape will change depending on the shell thickness, number of ply’s, and reinforcement hoops if any. 

The edges can be changed to suit your needs and sound styles upon special request.  Each drum can be made to sound a little drier, rounder, fatter, or crisper by changing the edge shape, depth of shell, number of ply’s, th width of the snare bed,  and the amount of snare drum ventilation.  Snare drums can change substanually by varying the depth and width of the snare bed, and type of snare wires, hoops, and shell hardware.

Critical to the tone and shape of the drum is the SRF or Shell Resonance Factor.  We utilize a 5 step sealing process for every shell interior.  This includes specially formulated oils, that penetrate the wood to protect and seal it.  We then use a special sealer, and then lacquers to bring out the tone of the shell.  This can be changed from Bright and Punchy to Warm and Fat.  We’ve found that our standard system gives the best of both worlds, but can be shaped upon special request.

All Studio Series Drums consist of the following specs;

Classic ‘A’ Grade Maple Shells  - (all Maple – no fillers) –  6, 8, and 10 ply, with no reinforcement hoops.

Custom Craft Shells upon request- 6 ply with 6 ply reinforcement hoops. 8 ply with 8 ply reinforcement hoops. 10 ply with 10 ply reinforcement hoops.

Lugs -  TRS ‘Toaster’ Lugs are standard on all shells unless otherwise requested. 

Hoops – 2.3mm heavy duty Stick Saver Hoops are standard on all drums, but we will supply regular heavy duty 2.3mm Triple Flanged hoops.   Optional 4.3mm Heavy Duty Die Cast hoops, or optional Custom Wood Hoops available upon request.

Mounting – Drums will be supplied with Gibraltar Resonance Suspension Mounts on request.   Bass Drum tom holder brackets mounted upon request.   Original Gauger RIMS (r) available upon request.

Spurs - Heavy Duty Spurs equipped on all bass drums.

SFR – Shell Resonance Factor - A Standard SRF of 1 is supplied standard.  This is a beautifully sealed shell, utilizing a satin finishing lacquer to protect the shell and reinforce the warmth and tone of the shell.  A SRF or 0 or 2 is available upon special request.

Bearing Edges - TRS Custom Drums come complete with our standard 35 degree edge and custom rounded back specific to each shells number of ply’s and shell thickness.
